I was the Art Director on a number of different Facebook and Mobile projects in the early days of CrowdStar. Here are a few of them.

Happy Pets

Happy Pets was a top-grossing Facebook game. Players nurtured and bred a variety of pet animals to create unique dynamically-generated variants. Happy Pets had a devoted and loyal following and the game lasted for many years.

Role: Art Director

Highlights:

  • Art directed visual style of the game, including pet and environment design

  • Designed UI look & feel

  • Built and mentored art team

  • Developed and oversaw animation and prop outsourcing

  • Collaborated on technical strategy for dynamic breeding system

Initially focused on dogs and cats, the game eventually expanded to feature dozens of animals, both real and fictional.

Breeding System

One of the unique aspects of Happy Pets was a dynamic breeding system that allowed players to mate their virtual pets together to create unique variants.

I designed the art pipeline to support the breeding system.

Happy Island

Happy Island was a top-grossing Facebook game. Players customized and shared their own fantasy islands and earned currency from building theme park and vacation attractions.

It Girl

It Girl was a top-grossing Facebook game for women. It was later adapted into a mobile title (as “Top Girl”). Players collected clothes from dozens of virtual stores and competed against each other in “style-offs”.

Happy Aquarium

Happy Aquarium was a top-grossing Facebook game. At its peak it had a DAU of 8 million players. Players collected fish and props to design and share their own fantasy aquariums.
